MOVIES

Mumbai has more than an hundred theatres. The film industry, popularly known as bollywod, turns out potboilers, ‘art’ films and middle-of the road cinema. For Hindi movies checkout Eros which is opposite church gate station or metro which is on M.G. road. For English movies the best places is regal on colaba causeway and sterling in fort.

GALLERIES & MUSEUMS
Mumbai also has quite a few interesting museums and art galleries. The Prince of Wales museum was built to commemorate king George V’s first visit to India. It has and impressive collections to terracotta figures from different parts of the encounter, miniature paintings, and sculptures from elephant islands and European paintings. The museum is located between colaba and fort and is open from Tuesday to Sundays. Jehangir art gallery is an important place for exhibitions by various artists. It is open daily between 11.00 am and 7.00pm. The national gallery of modern art has a large exhibition space showcasing Indian modern art. It is open from Tuesday to Sundays.

Matheran Toy Train, Mumbai TravelsTHE MATHERAN TOY TRAIN
This tiny hill resort was, till 1850, practically unknown. Nestling about 800m above sea level, Matheran (meaning jungle head) is the nearest hill resort to Mumbai- just about 2 hours away on a pune-bound train. Away from the din of the city, Matheran soothes the tired nerves and brings a song to the lips.

As the title narrow gauge train (which was introduced in 1907) wheezes up the Western Ghats into the clear mountains air, you get a breathing view of the hills and plains below. The train runs only between sunrise and sunset, and is discontinued from mid- June to end September, during the monsoons.

Neral, which is the starting point of the journey up, is easly accessible by Mumbai’s local trains.
